What a weekend, we kicked it off on Thursday with a sold out presentation of "This Is Burlesque", at the famed Birchmere Music Hall in Alexandria, Va. The girls and I have been doing Valentines Day shows there for years and it is always amazing, however going there with This Is Burlesque was the most fun of all. After the show, the cast piled into our monster van and we hustled back to NYC to get to Corio in time for Fridays shows. I love driving in the van with a zillion people, we played Angie's iPod torture and I made everyone listen to Expose and Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam for a few hours. I know the girls loved it, but Murray and the band couldn't take it. Finally the driver said he would stop driving if I didn't stop the torture. So I relented and we rocked out to Elvis, Sinatra and Quincy Jones for the duration of the trip.

I just got a new car, a Isuzu Ascender! It's a giant suv, pearl white with tinted windows. I'm so excited because this is my first car, in fact I really learned to drive just so I could get this car. I already have a huge red, white and green tassle that I am hanging from the rear view mirror. I was going to get personalized plates that said, "ANGIE P", but my dad said, "not a chance", I still listen to my dad, so to compensate for the loss, I got chrome Mets license plate frames. I'm also resourcing GPS systems. I think this is a great thing for me considering I get lost everytime I go outside a 5 block radius of my house. I am totally tricking out this car. I'm even considering throw pillows.
The first trip this car will take is me and the girls to Kings Plaza Mall. I love this mall, I go crazy there! After the mall, we are going to Spumoni Gardens for pizza and then we will randomly cruise different neighborhoods. My sister Tara and I would go cruising all the time when we lived together. We always ended up at Carvel getting flying saucers.
I'm pretty lucky that I have been able to travel the world with my job. I've kicked up the heels from coast to coast, throughout Europe, the UK, etc.. But there have only been 2 places that really stick with me after I leave them. The first was New Orleans, months after my fist visit, I could not get it out of my head. I wanted to go back, I needed to! And I did, I've been about 4 or 5 times since our fist performance there in 2000. I love New Orleans, and I look forward to returning. I always feel at home there, I adore the people, the feeling, the food, everything about it. And now, I feel the same way about Australia. I was lucky to spend 2 weeks there this summer with the "Good Drugs, Bad Women" tour. It was an amazing burlesque show put on by Sugartime & Tenderloin productions. We played amazing venues, got fabulous crowds and I had a fabulous time, but now, months later, I can't get Australia out of my head! I miss it!
I'm so excited! I went to the Dr. today for my check up and the nurse was measuring me and she said, "5'5", and I was like, "what", and she said, "5'5", and I said, "me" and she said yes. Now, I think she maybe insane because I have been 5'1 and enough change that I can claim 5'2 since I was 14. I'm absolutely positive I'm not 5'5 unless I am in my heels, then I am totally 5'5! I didn't wear heels that day though. I think I may have hit a growth spurt, proving that at any time you can grow, even if you haven't grown an inch since you were 14. It's never to late. I am now, officially the tallest Pontani, beating out Peekaboo who measures in at 5'4 in flats! Ha, ha, ha! I am the tallest and I've got the papers to prove it.
Go spinache! Popeye was right!
