BURLESQUE WILL NOT DIE- and by the way, are other parts of the country so enamored with uninhibited, tattooed women shaking their cellulite? Tonight, Murray Hill- the comedian, not the Manhattan neighborhood populated by UPenn grads- joins burlesque stars the Pontani Sisters for "This Is Burlesque." Mr. Hill was quick to inform us that this is "a classy burlesque show. This is not performance-arty. It's an Atlantic City, Vegas-style lounge show. It's above the boards, so to speak."
Mr. Hill then praised his show’s diverse group of devotes: “Ti attracts high rollers, Republicans, police officers, gay people-we get a really big range. Last night, John Spencer from the John Spencer Blues Explosion was there, and then at the table next to him was Frederica, that supermodel from the 80’s…and then this guy on the right, I think he was from Jersey, he had the biggest Neil Diamond mullet I’ve ever seen in my life!” Mr. Hill then told us the story of how he got his curious name. “I was born on the back seat of a cab on 23rd Street and 3rd Avenue. The cab driver asked my father, ‘Is it a boy or a girl?’ And my father said, ‘No,’ and right then and there I knew I was going to be in show business.”
